The prisoner is to be transferred to Miramar, California. During an unlikely sequence of events Mac figures out the false positive result on the drug test for which the defendant was prosecuted. Both Mac and the admiral himself start helping. Meanwhile Harm and Bud represent a senior chief petty officer who is HIV-positive, and who receives harsh treatment from his CO. The senior chief goes through some hard times, then he winds up in a place where he can serve well.
