One Piece: Pirate Warriors 2 riprende dunque la storia partendo da dove l'aveva interrotta il predecessore, ma a differenza di questo si discosta totalmente dalla trama originale del Manga/Anime per proporre una nuova avventura di Rufy e compagnia: una sorta di enorme “what if” non nuovo allo stile di Omega Force.Questo potrebbe forse far storcere un po' il naso ai fan della saga ufficiale - soprattutto perché manca totalmente una modalità che ne ripercorra le vicende - ma d'altro canto offre due innegabili vantaggi: il primo è una trama nuova per tutti, fan o non fan che siano, il secondo è la mancanza di “spoiler” che possano rovinare la lettura a chi decidesse di avvicinarvisi solo ora.
