In this H.P. Lovecraft tale, Herbert West is a Swiss scientist who has
discovered a fluid which brings dead tissue back to life. After the suspicious
death of his professor in Switzerland, West moves to Miskatonic University to
continue his research. He involves fellow student Dan Cain and his fiancée
Megan Halsey in his research by experimenting on their dead cat. Dan,
fascinated by West's research, agrees to smuggle him into the hospital morgue
with predictable results.
Bride Of Re-Animator 1989.
In Peru, Dr. Herbert West and Dr. Dan Cain are medical volunteers in a civil
war with the assistant Francesca Danelli and they are researching how to
create human life from dead tissue using wounded soldiers as guinea pigs.
They return to Miskatonic Hospital and Dan treats a terminal patient, Gloria,
and gets close to her. When the snoopy Lt. Leslie Chapham investigates the
Miskatonic Massacre, he learns that body parts are missing in the morgue,
and Herbert and Dan become his prime suspects. But Herbert kills the
lieutenant and revives him with the serum. Meanwhile, Dr. Graves finds the
head of Dr. Carl Hill and the green substance that the deceased doctor stole
from Herbert, and uses the serum to resurrect Dr. Hill's head. When Gloria
dies, Herbert and Dan use her head, with Meg's heart and parts of other women
to create the perfect woman. But Lt. Chapham teams up with Dr. Hill to seek
revenge against the crazy scientists.
Beyond Re-Animator 2003.
After thirteen years in a prison ruled by a very mean director, Dr. Herbert
West is invited to be the assistant of newcomer Dr. Howard Phillips, a
brilliant resident, in the penitentiary infirmary. After being introduced
to each other, Dr. Phillips discloses that the last experiment of Dr. West
killed his sister thirteen years ago, when he was a boy, and he became
fascinated with the possibility of bringing dead people back to life. The
journalist Laura Olney, covering a matter for her newspaper in the prison,
has an affair with Dr. Phillips and they fall in love. However, the
experience of Dr. West loses control and the place becomes a branch of Hell.
