DESCRIPTION

A billionaire software-genius named Harold Finch creates a Machine for the government that is designed to detect acts of terror before they can happen, by monitoring the entire world through every cell-phone, email and surveillance camera. Finch discovered that the machine sees everything, potential terrorist acts and violent crimes that involve ordinary people. When the government considered violent crimes between normal people "irrelevant", Finch built a back door into the system that gives him the social security number of a person involved in a future violent crime so he could act. Partnered with John Reese, an ex-CIA agent, the two work in secret to prevent violent crimes before they can happen. Eventually their activities lead to being hunted by the New York Police Department, CIA Agents in pursuit of Reese who was listed as dead, a computer hacker named Root who wants access to the Machine, and government officials who want to keep all knowledge of the Machine a complete secret.

An ex-assassin and a wealthy programmer save lives via a surveillance AI that sends them the identities of civilians involved in impending crimes. However, the details of the crimes--including the civilians' roles--are left a mystery.

Sarebbe un mondo migliore se esistesse una macchina che potesse prevenire attentati terroristici e crimini violenti. Mr Finch (Michael Emerson), eccentrico milionario esperto di informatica, è riuscito nell'impresa.

Egli ha infatti messo a punto un sofisticato software che permette di prevenire crimini violenti non ancora accaduti.

Nei capitoli precedenti abbiamo visto John Reese (Jim Caviezel) e Harold Finch (Michael Emerson) salvare innumerevoli vite grazie all’onniscienza del loro supercomputer e alla loro squadra – il detective Lionel Fusco (Kevin Chapman), l’imprevedibile cyber-hacker Root (Amy Acker) e Sameen Shaw (Sarah Shahi) – ma una nuova minaccia sta mettendo la loro missione a rischio e le loro vite in pericolo. Per anni sono stati protetti da La Macchina, ma nel momento in cui i mondi collidono e un nemico, conosciuto come Samaritan, tenta di monopolizzarla e distruggerla, la squadra deve trovare un modo per continuare a salvare vite mentre tentano di riavviare la macchina.

Nella quinta e ultima stagione, la guerra è finita. Il mondo potrebbe sembrare lo stesso ma qualcosa è drasticamente cambiato. Dopo essere scampati alle offensive degli agenti di Samaritan, Reese, Finch e Root tornano al quartier generale con la valigetta contenente La Macchina, che però ora è essenzialmente morta. Ce la farà Finch a ricostruire la macchina e a rimetterla in funzione? E se ce la facesse, quando tornerà online sarà la stessa Macchina di prima?

“Person of Interest” è una serie televisiva statunitense prodotta dalle società Kilter Films, Bad Robot Productions e Warner Bros. Television. Il tema principale è ‹ la sorveglianza tecnologica di massa all'insaputa dei cittadini ›, elaborata da Jonathan Nolan già nel film “Il Cavaliere Oscuro”, ma affrontato in maniera poco dettagliata e per questo sviluppato successivamente in una serie televisiva.
