Il più famoso viaggiatore spaziale del Pianeta Baab, Scorch Supernova, è un eroe grazie anche all'aiuto del fratello cervellone Gary, il responsabile delle missioni della BASA. Quando il rigoroso capo della BASA, Lena, intercetta una richiesta di aiuto dal Pianeta Oscuro, un mondo notoriamente pericoloso che si trova ai limiti dell'universo, Scorch non perde l'opportunità di tuffarsi in una missione di salvataggio senza precedenti. Ma Gary cerca di convincere il fratello a evitare il viaggio, ben sapendo che nessun esploratore intergalattico è mai tornato da questo mondo lontano (anche conosciuto come Terra).
