Dane DeHaan è Lockhart, giovane e ambizioso broker a Wall Street, mandato dal management
della sua società in una località remota sulle Alpi svizzere per riportare a New York Pembroke, l'amministratore
delegato della sua azienda, il quale, dopo un lungo soggiorno in un idilliaco e misterioso centro benessere,
ha informato il suo staff di non avere alcuna intenzione di andarsene. Quando sembra aver portato a termine il compito,
un rovinoso incidente lo costringe a fermarsi qualche giorno al centro con una gamba ingessata. Nonostante il clima
tra i pazienti in cura sia sereno, sembra che i trattamenti erogati dal sinistro Dottot Volmer (Jason Isaacs),
i cui effetti dovrebbero essere miracolosi, li facciano stare sempre peggio.
