DESCRIPTION

Veep - Vicepresidente incompetente (Veep) è una serie televisiva statunitense trasmessa dal 2012 sul canale via cavo HBO. In Italia va in onda dal 25 giugno 2014 su Sky Atlantic.[1] Ambientata nell'ufficio di una vicepresidente americana di finzione, è una commedia satirica ideata da Armando Iannucci, che utilizza lo stesso stile realistico, detto cinéma-vérité, già usato nella serie televisiva satirica The Thick of It dello stesso Iannucci, trasmessa dal 2005 dalla BBC.
Dopo un episodio pilota del 2011, scritto da Iannucci e da Simon Blackwell, è stata commissionata un'intera stagione della serie.[2] La serie ha debuttato il 22 aprile 2012 su HBO,[3] ed è stata trasmessa nel Regno Unito dal 25 giugno 2012 sul canale Sky Atlantic. Il 30 aprile 2012 la serie è stata rinnovata per una seconda stagione.[4]
Veep è stata candidata per quattro volte ai premi Emmy come miglior serie commedia, vincendo il premio nel 2015. Nello stesso anno ha vinto gli Emmy per la miglior sceneggiatura (per l'episodio Election Night) e il miglior casting di una serie commedia. Inoltre la serie è valsa a Julia Louis-Dreyfus cinque Emmy consecutivi come miglior attrice in una serie commedia e due candidature ai Golden Globe nella stessa categoria. Tra le altre interpretazioni apprezzate dalla critica vi sono quella di Tony Hale, vincitore di due Emmy su tre candidature come miglior attore non protagonista in una serie commedia, e quella di Anna Chlumsky, candidata a tre Emmy come miglior attrice non protagonista in una serie commedia.
