La trappola di Maigret (Maigret Sets a Trap) Un serial killer colpisce la Francia del dopoguerra, nel corso di un periodo di cinque mesi nel 1955 quattro donne sono pugnalato a morte a Montmartre e tocca a Jules Maigret, un commissario di polizia, dare la caccia all'assassino.
L'uomo morto di Maigret (Maigret's Dead Man) Un uomo telefona a Maigret in preda al panico dicendo che qualcuno lo sta seguendo per ucciderlo. Maigret cerca di rintracciarlo, ma alla fine troverà il suo cadavere. Il prefetto gli ordina di lasciar stare le indagini, credendo che si tratti della tipica vittima di una resa dei conti della malavita, e di dedicarsi esclusivamente ai massacri nelle fattorie della Piccardia, attaccate più volte d’estate da una banda brutale che ha ucciso tre famiglie. Alla fine Maigret capisce che i due casi sono collegati.
