Endre, direttore amministrativo di un mattatoio industriale, è sospettoso nei confronti di Mária, nuova responsabile del controllo qualità inviata dalle autorità. Endre pensa che Mária sia eccessivamente formale e troppo concentrata su sé stessa. E trova anche che sia troppo severa nel valutare la qualità delle carni. Semplicemente, Mária applica sul lavoro lo stesso ordine che utilizza nella gestione della sua vita. Nel corso di colloqui di routine, una psicologa scopre che Mária ed Endre condividono lo stesso ricorrente sogno. Introversi, non sanno che cosa significhi e si sentono a disagio. Il giorno successivo verificano un'altra volta: hanno fatto ancora lo stesso identico sogno. Diventa così chiaro che Mária ed Endre si incontrano ogni notte in un territorio comune: una foresta innevata, calma, dove sono due leggiadri cervi che si amano. Esitando, Mária ed Endre accettano quella strana coincidenza. Non possono ignorare l'intimità che li lega così facilmente nei loro sogni. Per due persone in apparenza del tutto estranee all’amore non è semplice ricreare nell'ampia luce del giorno la relazione armoniosa delle loro notti solitarie...
STORYLINE:
On the outskirts of Budapest, the ageing recluse, Endre, is the reserved and saturnine manager of a small abattoir, who is used to hiding his disabled left arm along with his emotions behind a busy schedule. And then, unexpectedly, the loner's eye is caught by a shy and graceful newcomer in the office; the young Mária, the plant's cryptic and glacially beautiful quality-control inspector. Strange as it may seem, the slaughterhouse will provide the unorthodox background for a timid affair between the tender outcasts, who, even though they seem to be polar opposites, a small theft within the company's walls will prove that those two definitely share an eerie and almost spiritual bond. However, are the two dreamers, Endre and Mária, ready to embrace the catharsis of love on both body and soul?
