For years Patrick Jane has served as an independent consultant for the California Bureau of Investigation, earning a reputation for unusual methods and disregard for protocol -- not to mention his former career as a "psychic" -- while using his link with the department to hunt Red John, the serial killer who murdered his wife and daughter.
