Nel 1970 Farrokh Bulsara, uno studente universitario britannico di origini parsi che lavora come scaricatore di bagagli all'Aeroporto di Londra-Heathrow, assiste all'esibizione in un locale notturno di una band locale di nome Smile. Dopo lo spettacolo incontra il chitarrista e il batterista del gruppo, rispettivamente Brian May e Roger Taylor, e si offre di sostituire il loro cantante Tim Staffell, che proprio quella notte aveva lasciato il gruppo; la stessa sera Farrokh conosce una ragazza di nome Mary, che lavora come commessa da Biba. Con l'aggiunta del bassista John Deacon la band - che di lì a breve cambierà nome in Queen - fa concerti in tutta la Gran Bretagna, fino a quando i componenti del gruppo vendono il loro furgone per produrre il loro album di debutto
