Miles (Alex Neustaedter) is a teenage motorcyclist who runs into a robot dog named AXL during one of his rally races. Despite being equipped with artificial intelligence and having the appearance more of a war machine than an animal, the robotic dog proves to have a heart and behavior very similar to those of his fellow humans in the flesh.
