DESCRIPTION

In this adaptation of the autobiography "The Pianist: The Extraordinary True Story of One Man's Survival in Warsaw, 1939-1945," Wladyslaw Szpilman, a Polish Jewish radio station pianist, sees Warsaw change gradually as World War II begins. Szpilman is forced into the Warsaw Ghetto, but is later separated from his family during Operation Reinhard. From this time until the concentration camp prisoners are released, Szpilman hides in various locations among the ruins of Warsaw.

О фильме:

Фильм повествует о жизни Варшавского гетто во время второй мировой войны. В основу положена реальная история польского музыканта Владислава Шпильмана, еврея по национальности. Все начинается в 1939 году со взятия Варшавы немецкими войсками. Всем евреям приказано носить на руках белые повязки с изображением звезды Давида.

После массовых расстрелов в городе строится стена, за которую выселяют еврейское население. За стеной оказывается и Шпильман со своей семьей. Вынужденный жить в Варшавском гетто, он сполна познает вкус унижений, страдания и борьбы. Один из офицеров отступающей немецкой армии обнаруживает его среди руин разрушенного города и помогает ему выжить.
