TRAMA
The Report, il film di Scott Z. Burns, basato su fatti reali, vede protagonista Daniel J. Jones (Adam Driver), membro del comitato d'investigazione e d'intelligence del Senato degli Stati Uniti, incaricato di far luce sui metodi di prigionia e sugli interrogatori operati della CIA nel periodo che ha seguito i terribili attentati dell'11 Settembre 2001.
Dopo diversi anni di approfondite indagini, Jones scopre l'esistenza di pratiche di tortura immorali e crudeli che la CIA ha cercato a lungo di celare. Ma la pubblicazione di questo dettagliato rapporto, che conterà alla fine più di 500 pagine, sarà molto più complicata del previsto. La Casa Bianca e la CIA impiegheranno tutti gli sforzi possibili per soffocare l'indagine e impedire che queste terribili verità vengano a galla e siano rivelate al pubblico.
Tra quelli che cercheranno di aiutare Jones nella sua indagine - senza però venire meno al loro dovere di difendere le Istituzioni - troviamo la senatrice Dianne Feinstein (Annette Bening), ancora oggi (nel 2019) membro del parlamento americano. Nata nel 1933, La Feinstein è stata anche sindaco della città di San Francisco dal 1978 al 1988, prima donna a ricoprire quel ruolo.
