Сюжет фильма

Дэвид Вагнер - дитя девяностых. Но он увлечен телевизионным шоу «Плезантвиль», где действие происходит в 50-е годы в небольшом одноименном городке, где все шикарны, веселы и непорочны, и жизнь удивительно приятна.

Завороженный этим утопическим миром, Дэвид воображает себя в «Плезантвиле», где он наконец-то избавился бы от своей взбалмошной и помешанной на парнях сестры Дженнифер. И однажды вечером жизнь совершает причудливый поворот: странный телемастер вручает Дэвиду необычный пульт дистанционного управления, который отправляет его вместе с сестрой прямо в Плезантвиль. Визит пришельцев не прошел для города бесследно, удивительным образом изменив судьбы его обитателей.
