DESCRIPTION
The passage from this world to the fantasy kingdom of Stormhold is through a breach in a wall beside an English village. In the 1800s, a boy becomes a man when he ventures through the breach in pursuit of a fallen star, to prove his love for the village beauty. The star is no lump of rock, it's a maiden, Yvaine. Tristan, the youth, is not the only one looking for her: three witches, led by Lamia, want her heart to make them young; and, the sons of the dead king of Stormhold want her because she holds a ruby that will give one of them title to the throne. Assisting Tristan are his mother, the victim of a spell, and a cross-dressing pirate of the skies. Will Tristan win his true love?
Sinopsis by IMDB Stardust è un film del 2007, ispirato all'omonimo romanzo di Neil Gaiman. Una piccola cittadina inglese si trova al confine con il mondo magico di Stormhold, protetto da un muro di pietra e sorvegliato costantemente da una guardia che impedisce di passare oltre. Dunstan Thorn riesce però ad eludere la sorveglianza e ad attraversare il muro, giungendo in un mercato magico. Lì incontra una giovane principessa, di nome Una, tenuta prigioniera da una strega. La ragazza offre a Dunstan un fiore di bucaneve in cambio di un bacio. Nove mesi dopo, la Guardia del Muro consegna un bambino a Dunstan, dicendogli che è suo figlio. Una volta cresciuto, il ragazzo, che si chiama Tristan (Charlie Cox), si innamora di Victoria (Sienna Miller), una bella egocentrica ed opportunista. Una sera, i due osservano una stella cadente e il giovane promette alla ragazza che gliela consegnerà in cambio della sua mano. Ma l'astro non è caduto per caso: a Stormhold, il sovrano, in punto di morte, dichiara che il successore al trono sarà il primo dei suoi figli che riuscirà a recuperare un topazio da lui lanciato nel cielo, che è andato a colpire proprio la stella che Tristan e Victoria hanno visto precipitare. Intanto Tristan scopre che sua madre abita di là dal muro, e riceve dal padre una candela che lei gli aveva lasciato, la quale ha il potere di portarlo immediatamente dovunque egli desidera. Così il ragazzo si reca nel luogo dove è caduta la stella, che si rivela essere una giovane donna di nome Yvaine (Claire Danes). Ma egli non è il solo che la sta cercando: una strega malvagia, Lamia (Michelle Pfeiffer), la vuole per assicurarsi l’eterna giovinezza, e il principe Septimus cerca il topazio che Yvaine porta con sé. Le strade dei tre sono dunque destinate ad incrociarsi.
