DESCRIPTION
American security guard Richard Jewell saves thousands of lives from an exploding bomb at the 1996 Olympics, but is vilified by journalists and the press who falsely reported that he was a terrorist.

Richard Jewell, il film diretto da Clint Eastwood, prende il titolo dal nome della guardia giurata che nel 1996, durante i giochi olimpici di Atlanta, salvò moltissime vite umane, scoprendo per primo la bomba piazzata nel Centennial Park e facendo evacuare rapidamente le persone presenti nel celebre parco della città della Georgia. Bastarono però pochi giorni per trasformare Jewell da eroe a sospettato numero 1 dell'FBI, che stava indagando sul fallito attentato. Diffamato dalla stampa e vilipeso dall'opinione pubblica, la vita dell'uomo andò in frantumi. Per dimostrare la sua innocenza, Richard Jewell (Paul Walter Hauser) decise di rivolgersi a Watson Bryant (Sam Rockwell) avvocato anti-establishment, il quale si ritrovò ad affrontare una causa al di sopra delle sue possibilità, ma deciso a ripulire il nome del suo cliente a ogni costo.
Oltre ai due interpreti già citati, nel cast del film ritroviamo Kathy Bates nel ruolo di Bobi Jewell, madre di Richard, Jon Hamm in quello del capo della squadra investigativa dell'FBI, e Olivia Wilde nei panni di Kathy Scruggs giornalista del The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, principale quotidiano della città.
