DESCRIPTION
The adventures of Ragnar Lothbrok: the greatest hero of his age. The series tells the saga of Ragnar's band of Viking brothers and his family as he rises to become King of the Viking tribes. As well as being a fearless warrior, Ragnar embodies the Norse traditions of devotion to the gods: legend has it that he was a direct descendant of Odin, the god of war and warriors.
Vikings è una serie tv canadese che, ambientata nel IX secolo, racconta le avventure del grande guerriero vichingo Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmel, C'era una volta Steve McQueen, Dramland, The Beast) determinato ad esplorare il mondo attraversando le acque dell'oceano. Ciò che guida il guerriero è la sua ambizione e la sua sete di conoscenza, unite alla credenza che gli Dei gli siano benevoli e che gli mandino continuamente segnali dalla natura per spingerlo ad accrescere i suoi possedimenti e la sua gloria, conquistando sempre più territori fino a spingersi oltre il pericoloso e tumultuoso Mare del Nord. Ad opporsi agli obiettivi espansionistici di Ragnar e della sua famiglia, composta dalla moglie guerriera Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick, Polar, Bones), dai suoi figli Bjorn (Nathan O'Toole, Alexander Ludwig, Bad Boys for Life) e Gyda (Ruby O'Leary) e da suo fratello Rollo (Clive Standen, Camelot, Taken), c'è il Conte Haraldson (Gabriel Byrne, In Treatment, Maniac, War of the Worlds) che governa il villaggio insieme al suo consigliere Syein (David Pearse, Indovina chi sposa Sally, Laws of Attraction- Matrimonio in appello) e al suo fidato indovino, e che non vuole assolutamente perdere i suoi uomini e le sue navi acconsentendo alla folle spedizione ad Ovest di Ragnar.
Il protagonista è però cosi testardo che decide di non osservare le imposizioni del Conte e, dopo aver costruito insieme al suo amico Floki (Gustaf Skarsgård, Westworld- Dove tutto è concesso) , un geniale artigiano, un nuovo prototipo di nave più lunga e veloce di quelle tradizionali, raduna un gruppo di spietati e sanguinari vichinghi pronti a partire per la conquista di nuove terre e della gloria tanto ambita, sfidando le leggi del villaggio, del suo governatore, ma soprattutto quelle della natura.
