DESCRIPTION

In Seattle, Det. Sarah Linden is on what is supposed to be her last day on the job. She and her son Jack are supposed to leave that evening to join her fiancé in Sonoma. Her replacement, Det. Stephen Holder, is ready to take over but they answer a call from a patrol car who have found a bloodied sweater in a field. When the missing girl, Rosie Larsen, is found in the trunk of a car at the bottom of a lake it turns out the car is registered to the campaign committee for councilman Darren Richmond, who is running for mayor. Linden delays her departure for what she hopes will be only a few days.

'The Killing' es el resultado de la adaptación que la cadena norteamericana AMC ('Mad Men', 'The Walking Dead') y la guionista Veena Cabreros Sud ('Caso abierto') han realizado de la serie danesa 'Forbrydelsen' (estrenada también como 'The Killing' fuera de Escandinavia), una adaptación que no sólo no traiciona al original, sino que lo enriquece asumiendo riesgos propios como es el hecho de que esta nueva versión introduzca algunas variantes sobre el caso y sea también perfectamente creíble.
Para ello, ha contado con varios colaboradores, entre ellos, el guionista danés Søren Sveistrup, uno de los responsables de 'Forbrydelsen', presente como guionista y productor en los créditos de varios episodios de 'The Killing', y realizadores de prestigio, como Ed Bianchi, responsable de la producción de HBO 'Deadwood', y la cineasta polaca Agnieszka Holland, directora de numerosas películas y series en Estados Unidos, entre ellas 'El jardín secreto', 'Washington Square', 'El tercer milagro' y episodios de 'The Wire: Bajo escucha', 'Caso abierto' y 'Treme'.
Las dos series parten de una premisa idéntica: una inspectora de policía, a punto de abandonar el servicio porque se traslada a otra ciudad junto a su pareja y su hijo, se ve envuelta en el que está llamado a ser el caso de su vida, la desaparición de una adolescente cuyo cuerpo será encontrado en el maletero de un coche. El crimen trastocará todos sus planes ya que aplazará su traslado y afectará a su vida personal.
