DESCRIPTION

This documentary gives us a rare glimpse into the persona of the great director Takeshi Kitano. We see him in action directing Kikujiro, one of the greatest risks of his career. The man is a vortex of creative energy but we also see the anxiety he feels every day, worried that he might be making the biggest mistake of his life. It also features a delightful summit meeting between Kitano and the visiting Taiwanese director Hou Hsiao-hsien.

История мальчугана Масао, поехавшего разыскать маму, живущую вдалеке от него, и великовозрастного гопника Кикудзиро, вызвавшегося сопроводить малыша. И если вы думаете, что путь от Токио до Тоёхасы (200 км) дело нескольких часов — то глубоко заблуждаетесь. Кикудзиро найдет время и на велобегà, и на «девчонок» в номере отеля с бассейном, и на приключения в парке аттракционов. Но несмотря на свою бесшабашность, он, как ни странно, прекрасно понимает Масао. Наверное потому, что и сам в душе ребенок. Дословно фильм так и называется: «Лето Кикудзиро», наводя на мысли о школьных сочинениях на данную тему.

Картина несет колоссальный заряд позитива и какого-то умиротворения, в первую очередь за счет пасторальных пейзажей, и выразительных немых сцен, кои красноречивей самых изощренных диалогов.
