Un virus letale soprannominato Medusa (poiché porta alla morte per pietrificazione) comincia a diffondersi a livello globale e 160 persone vengono scelte da un programma di ricerca per essere ibernate in attesa che una cura venga trovata. Senonché, quando i soggetti si risvegliano, si rendono conto che qualcosa è andato storto durante il loro sonno: la struttura nella quale si risvegliano infatti è decadente e ricoperta di rovi, e ben presto strani mostri mutanti cominciano ad attaccare. I sette soggetti sopravvissuti cercheranno quindi di scoprire la verità e di trovare un modo per uscire sani e salvi dalla fortezza.
