DESCRIPTION
Two Irish brothers accidentally kill mafia thugs. They turn themselves in and are released as heroes. They then see it as a calling by God and start knocking off mafia gang members one by one. Willem Dafoe plays the detective trying to figure out the killings, but the closer he comes to catching the Irish brothers, the more he thinks the brothers are doing the right thing.

Il giorno di San Patrizio. Una chiesa di Boston. La Messa della mattina. Mentre il prete dispensa la benedizione, i due fratelli irlandesi, Connor (Sean Patrick Flanery) e Murphy Mc Manus (Norman Reedus), si incamminano verso l'altare per baciare i piedi del Redentore. Più tardi sono al lavoro, in una fabbrica di confezionamento di carne fresca, la sera stessa si rilassano con un pò di birra al solito pub. Il mattino seguente, il detective dell'FBI Paul Smeker (Willem Dafoe) è chiamato sul luogo dell'omicidio di due mafiosi russi, Vladdy e Checov. Si trova di fronte gli agenti del Dipartimento di Polizia di Boston del tutto disorientati, valuta la scena del crimine e deduce rapidamente la situazione. Sebbene i poliziotti ridacchiano sotto i baffi sull'omosessualità di Smeker, non possono far a meno di stupirsi delle capacità del detective. Nel frattempo Connor e Murphy ricoverati in ospedali, per le ferite riportate nello scontro con Vladdy e Checov, decidono di costituirsi e ricostruiscono con Smeker gli eventi della sera precedente.
