DESCRIPTION
A rule bound head butler's world of manners and decorum in the household he maintains is tested by the arrival of a housekeeper who falls in love with him in pre-WWII Britain. The possibility of romance and his master's cultivation of ties with the Nazi cause challenge his carefully maintained veneer of servitude.

This movie looking at the relationship between working class members of Aristocratic households in this case - just as in the 1971-1975 great Series from the UK "Upstairs Downstairs" with Sir David Langton playing Lord Bellamy while Sir Edward Fox plays Lord Darlington here.
What we find is that men as portrayed by such great men as these do have obvious merit of spirit and intelligence and core idealism that would see them reign over others in the natural order of things in what has been the case historically where such ideas of merit (in times now seeming gone by) up untill now.
Needless to say, the depiction of the lack of human sanity (relatively speaking) in the sort of oppression of spirit some would practice under the guise of "keeping the servants honest" by not allowing them ny idea they would be allowed notions of a possibility of love to enter into their lives once they had "entered into service". Such notions do not come from the best mindsets or those who show real sanity or goodness at the core in any such situations but from misfits in their midst instead - even those seemingly related to some degree in their own regards. As such I think we mis-script the best of men here to seem as though they would have such a mind on such matters in reality. Nor should Sir Edward Fox be given any notions that he is at the level of the low level functionaries of an condescending nature to his real goodness and intelligence who are dispatched in this story from Germany to "case the joint" for possibly raiding the mansion in the future to take what "paintings hang on the walls' - an expression likewise bandies about in the great movie "White Mischief" (1987) starring dear Ms. Greta Scacchi of which we do now have a 1080p version prepared to upload to you quite soon I expect and pray.
Also included is a commentary track we lifted from an HDTV video featuring Ms. emma Thompson and as well a man from India I believe who is in fact given the role of "director" it would appear over this great work of cultural offerings from the British isles. Now isnt that an honour indeed. I should just add in this note that in the Documentary from Pakistan we recently posted labeled "Among the believers" a member of the academia of the University there is seen to preach to a "Mullah" (who is seeking to ban "music" etc as sinful an enjoyment to partake of without state orchestrated restraints of a mind so oriented) that the purpose of life is ultimately to find true love and share in it with mutual commitment and merit as being all there is of real value in our existence on the planet. I'm with him in such thoughts and certainly against the hateful preachings of the mullah mindset there too as is labelled by the Academic scholar in calling it like it is for crissakes here.
