Обыкновенная японская школьница Ёко Асагири любит одного парня, но не решается ему признаться, а вместо этого сочиняет мелодию, в которой выражает свои чувства. Это, однако, ей не помогает: признаться она по-прежнему не решается, а вскоре неким мистическим образом попадает в параллельный мир, который называется Ашанти (хинди: беспокойство, беспорядок). Довольно быстро выясняется, что музыка, которую написала Ёко, может выполнять функции моста между мирами, а само её появление здесь было отнюдь не случайным...
