Jimmy Testagross is een grote jongen. Tenminste, dat wil hij de mensen graag laten geloven. Als zoon van een gerespecteerde muzikant presenteert hij zich als de succesvolle manager van de band Blue Öyster Cult. In werkelijkheid is hij na jarenlang een roadie geweest te zijn voor de band zonder pardon gedumpt. Hij besluit hij naar huis terug te keren in Queens, New York. Verstrikt in zijn eigen verleden en een wereld die verder gaat zonder hem, bezoekt hij zijn oude vrienden en familie. Zijn liefdevolle moeder, die alleen is sinds de dood van Jimmy's vader, blijkt tekenen van dementie te vertonen.
