DESCRIPTION
Kate Dibiasky (Jennifer Lawrence), an astronomy grad student, and her professor Dr. Randall Mindy (Leonardo DiCaprio) make an astounding discovery of a comet orbiting within the solar system. The problem - it's on a direct collision course with Earth. The other problem? No one really seems to care. Turns out warning mankind about a planet-killer the size of Mount Everest is an inconvenient fact to navigate. With the help of Dr. Oglethorpe (Rob Morgan), Kate and Randall embark on a media tour that takes them from the office of an indifferent President Orlean (Meryl Streep) and her sycophantic son and Chief of Staff, Jason (Jonah Hill), to the airwaves of The Daily Rip, an upbeat morning show hosted by Brie (Cate Blanchett) and Jack (Tyler Perry). With only six months until the comet makes impact, managing the 24-hour news cycle and gaining the attention of the social media obsessed public before it's too late proves shockingly comical - what will it take to get the world to just look up?.

Don't Look Up, film diretto da Adam McKay, racconta di come il professor Randall Mindy (Leonardo DiCaprio) insieme a Kate Dibiasky (Jennifer Lawrence), studentessa di astronomia prossima alla laurea, durante le loro ricerche facciano una scoperta terribile: una cometa, grande quanto l'Everest, è entrata nell'orbita del sistema solare ed è in rotta di collisione con il nostro pianeta. I due si affannano ad avvisare autorità competenti del possibile impatto, ma nessuno sembra essere interessato alla gravità di questa minaccia, che rischierebbe di distruggere la Terra e i suoi abitanti. Comunicare alla popolazione cosa potrebbe entrare nella nostra atmosfera sembra un avviso troppo scomodo e allarmistico da dare.
Randall e Kate non si arrendono e, sostenuti dal dottor Oglethorpe (Rob Morgan), danno inizio a tour per comunicare l'imminente catastrofe e giungono fino all'ufficio del Presidente Orlean (Meryl Streep) e di suo figlio, il capo di gabinetto Jason (Jonah Hill), che finiscono per minimizzare la cosa, non dedicandole la giusta attenzione. I due scienziati decidono quindi di rivolgersi alla comunicazione mediatica e si presentano nel programma mattutino di Brie (Cate Blanchett) e Jack (Tyler Perry), The Daily Rip, per allarmare i cittadini e avvertirli. Ma mancano 6 mesi allo scontro tra Terra e cometa e sembra che la popolazione sia troppo presa a fare altro, ovvero guardare il telefono e stare sui social media, per dedicarsi a una minaccia globale. Cosa riuscirà a far staccare loro gli occhi da uno schermo per rivolgerli al cielo?
