Note : Infamous as one of the most widely banned video nasties in the world, this English-language Greek exploitation film features an abundance of sex (of all kinds), rape, zoophilia, incest, gerontophilia, golden showers, torture and murder, all set against the idyllic winter landscape of the island of Mykonos. A young couple arrives on vacation, but all is not what it seems, for the man is obsessed with cleansing the world of perverts and deviants (although he clearly is one himself), and is racist and homophobic, and the woman is his more or less willing accomplice. They proceed to fuck, rape, murder and torture their way across the island, mostly targeting the tourist population, until the meet a sort of appropriate fate.
This movie is not for everyone, I'm not sure it's for anyone, really. The over the top main character could easily be seen as a metaphor for Greece's fascist dictatorship, just two years gone by the time this film was made, but in the commentary track, the director seems more ambivalent and even somewhat sympathetic to his viewpoints, or maybe he just hates tourists. It's not clear, but it definitely is trying to be as offensive as humanly possible, and largely succeeds.
This is a fine-looking remaster, not at all completely clean or fully restored, with some dust, scratches, and visible splices, but it's fine to watch, if, you know, you think watching this is fine.
