DESCRIPTION
GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL recounts the adventures of Gustave H, a legendary concierge at a famous European hotel between the wars, and Zero Moustafa, the lobby boy who becomes his most trusted friend. The story involves the theft and recovery of a priceless Renaissance painting and the battle for an enormous family fortune -- all against the back-drop of a suddenly and dramatically changing Continent.

Nel 1968 un giovane scrittore (Jude Law) fa visita all’ormai decaduto albergo e qui incontra Zero Moustafa (F. Murray Abraham) che gli racconta la storia di come è diventato proprietario dell’hotel.
Nel 1932, il concierge Monsieur Gustave H. (Ralph Fiennes) è un uomo eccentrico che intrattiene la prestigiosa clientela dell’albergo, instaurando anche qualche flirt amoroso. Tra le sue conquiste c’è Madame D. (Tilda Swinton) che sembra certa che tra pochi giorni incontrerà la morte.
La predizione della donna si rivela sorprendentemente giusta, e Gustave e Zero (Tony Revolori) si recano nella casa della signora e scoprono che Madame D. ha lasciato un prestigioso quadro al suo amante. Approfittando della confusione generata dalle proteste del figlio della donna, Dmitri (Adrien Brody), i due si appropriano del quadro e tornano al Grand Budapest Hotel.
Il maggiordomo della defunta, Serge X. (Mathieu Amalric), nasconde una lettera nel quadro e pochi giorni dopo sparisce.
Mentre Zero si innamora di Agatha (Saoirse Ronan) e progetta di rubare il quadro, Gustave viene arrestato come sospettato per la morte di Madame D. Grazie ad un ingegnoso piano, Zero riesce a salvare Gustave e i due scoprono il nascondiglio di Serge X, che fa una rivelazione sorprendente sul testamento della sua datrice di lavoro.
Gustave e Zero si trovano così tra due fuochi: Dmitri e il suo sicario Jopling (Willem Defoe) sono sulle loro tracce, mentre l’ispettore Henckles (Edward Norton) vuole riacciuffare il fuggitivo e condannarlo per un crimine mai commesso.
