Buzz Lightyear è un giovane astronauta alla sua prima missione: un semplice volo di addestramento che dovrebbe durare solo 4 minuti. Qualcosa però va storto e Buzz si trova lanciato attraverso un varco nello spazio-tempo e finisce proiettato nel futuro, a 62 anni dal momento in cui si trovava alla partenza.
