DESCRIPTION

Set against the backdrop of 1977 Los Angeles, The Nice Guys opens when single father and licensed PI Holland March (Gosling) is hired to investigate the apparent suicide of famous porn star Misty Mountains. As the trail leads him to track down a girl named Amelia (Qualley), he encounters less licensed and less hands-off private eye Jackson Healey (Russell Crowe) and his brass knuckles, both hired by the young hippie. However, the situation takes a turn for the worse when Amelia vanishes and it becomes apparent that March wasn't the only party interested. As both men are forced to team up, they'll have to take on a world filled with eccentric goons, strippers dressed as mermaids and even a possible government conspiracy.

The Nice Guys è un film del 2016 diretto da Shane Black. Nella Los Angeles del 1977, il frustrato detective privato Holland March (Ryan Gosling) viene assunto alla signora Glenn (Lois Smith) per indagare sulla morte di sua nipote, l'attrice pornografica Misty Mountains (Murielle Telio). La donna, infatti, sostiene che la ragazza sia ancora viva e Holland ritiene che possa esserci stato uno scambio di identità con la scapestrata Amelia Kutner (Margaret Qualley). Avendo scoperto che March è sulle sue tracce, la ragazza assolda l'intimidatorio Jackson Healy (Russell Crowe). Quando quest'ultimo scopre che Amelia è diventata il bersaglio dei gangster Blue Face (Beau Knapp) e il Vecchio (Keith David), chiede a Holland di aiutarlo a scoprire la verità. Ai due si aggiunge Holly(Angourie Rice), la risoluta figlia di March. Gli investigatori scoprono che Amelia e Misty stavano lavorando ad una nuova pellicola porno e che tutti coloro che sono collegati al progetto stanno velocemente venendo uccisi da un misterioso mandante, ignorando tuttavia che si tratti dell'abile sicario John Boy(Matt Bomer). Nel frattempo Judith Kutner (Kim Basinger) scongiura i due uomini di ritrovare sua figlia, dal momento che è convinta che Amelia sia fuggita a causa di una crisi di paranoia. Gli indizi si fanno sempre più scottanti e un losco giro d'affari sta per venire a galla...
