An obscure band, from the Krefeld/Düsseldorf region, born out of the confused early Kraftwerk history, and taken under the wing of Conny Plank, Ibliss were one of the most remarkable one album wonders. Featuring Basil Hammoudi from Organisation and Andreas Hohmann (one of the two drummers on the first Kraftwerk album) augmenting a trio of no less talent.
Ibliss created a logical jazz-fusion diversion on the Organisation sound, heavily featuring flutes, saxophones and an overdose of percussion. All this in a typically Teutonic cosmic concoction, kinda Kraftwerk meets Miles Davis and ROCKSESSION era Embryo, and also hinting at the later Kollektiv and instrumental work of Thirsty Moon. Remarkable, right down to the talking saxophone and motorcycle bass (those that have heard it know what I mean).
Yes, it's a great shame they only released the one album, although the band did exist for a couple of years at least, and they did play at an early Moers Festival, of which a recording is rumoured to exist. Maybe that'll make it onto the CD reissue, if it ever happens!
