Nella soffitta di una grande villa, il Dottor Edward Pretorious (Ted Sorel), assieme al suo fido assistente Crawfford Tillinghast (Jeffey Combs), sta per portare a termine un misterioso esperimento che consiste in una macchina a frequenze multiple (il risuonatore elettronico) capace di stimolare la ghiandola pineale al fine di ottenere così la funzione del cosiddetto "terzo occhio", il quale consentirà il raggiungimento dell'estrema percezione dei sensi. L'esperimento va ben oltre le loro aspettative al punto che le vibrazioni provocate dalla terribile invenzione, aprono un varco con una dimensione parallela dove si celano mostruose e raccapriccianti creature......
