内容简介 鸦片战争时期，清军“炮不利”与英军“炮利”的问题，属于中国乃至世界火器史和海防史研究的重要内容。本书是国内首部研究鸦片战争时期中英火炮技术和性能优劣的学术专著，对中英火炮材质的金相进行了微观的实验与实证研究，发现英军火炮分类统一、膛壁薄、重量轻、各部位比例与设计思想相符、材质良好、制造与加工技术高、弹药质量优、点火装置先进，从而使之射程远、射速快、射击精度高、sha伤力大；清军火炮则与之相反。可以认为·清军火炮的劣势和作战方式的陈旧，是其防守失败的原因，英军火炮的优势和新作战方式的采用，是其侵略得逞的关键。
