A letto con Sartre, film diretto da Samuel Benchetrit, è ambientato in una cittadina nei pressi di un porto a nord della Francia, dove le persone trascorrono la loro vita isolate e col tempo si sono abituate alla violenza. La loro esistenza viene sconvolta improvvisamente da arte e amore, che iniziano a influenzarle fortemente.
Tra di loro c'è il boss locale, Jeff (François Damiens), che cerca di conquistare la cassiera di cui si è innamorato con poesie d'amore, alquanto discutibili. Poi abbiamo i suoi due tirapiedi Jesus (Joey Starr) e Poussin (Bouli Lanners), impegnati a organizzare un party per la figlia adolescente di Jeff e perfino disposti ad aiutare la ragazza a fare colpo sul tipo che le piace. Infine, Jacky (Gustave Kervern), uno scagnozzo che grazie all'amore per una donna scopre l'arte del teatro e, pur di starle vicino, si ritrova a recitare in una pièce sulla vita sessuale di Sartre e Simone de Beauvoir.
È così che la poesia, l'arte e il teatro aiuteranno questi personaggi a dare un senso alla loro vita, mostrando come spesso anche i più "duri" abbiano un cuore tenero.
