Pur condividendo temi e stilemi da horror religioso (voci demoniache, incisi esorcistici), il film di Krieger si rifà in pieno alle (lente) movenze di un dramma psicologico, ma sopprime in mari di dialoghi e nella freddezza para-televisiva della confezione qualsiasi scintilla tensiva. Si giunge così annoiati al finale che il twist in chiusura, seppur derivativo e telefonato, coglie di sorpresa.
