In un oscuro futuro, la città di Romdo si è isolata dal resto nel mondo vivendo un’utopia dove uomini e robot coesistono pacificamente. Tutto è regolato da una rigida burocrazia che non ammette anomalie. Almeno questo è quanto si vuol far credere, come scoprirà la giovane investigatrice Re-l: la sua vita viene infatti sconvolta dall’apparizione di uno strano mostro la cui origine è sconosciuta. La decisione di indagare su questo misterioso “proxy”, cambierà per sempre la sua vita. Così come quella di Vincent Law, un giovane riparatore di AutoReiv che verrà anche lui coinvolto in questa complessa vicenda. A completare il quadro il misterioso Cogito virus, che colpisce i robot, e una lotta per il controllo del potere........
