Let me preface in the same manner that I preface the Lamb of God recording from this same festival: I hate outdoor venues. They suck in so many ways, as the final sound is completely uncontrolled.
To that end, I'll speak only of the band and forget about the technical elements, as it was an absolute shitfight. Even the very beginning, the sound guy had something wrong somewhere and there was a lot of bad crackle at the beginning of the set, which I've managed to dial out to some degree.
More importantly, Pantera did exactly what we all knew they would: melt our faces off. With the same energy and vigor as we've always remembered them to have, albeit without two equally important and beloved members, the guys definitely channeled Vinnie and Dimebag and gave the crowd the adrenaline, goosebumps and high emotion that I know I most definitely cherish from this gig the most. And to think I almost decided against going because of the ticket price and the outdoor venue! I'm glad I changed my mind and you might be glad to hear whatever I could polish out of this audio turd.
Nevertheless, take a listen to the samples and be your own judge.
