DESCRIPTION
The show follows a crime, ususally adapted from current headlines, from two separate vantage points. The first half of the show concentrates on the investigation of the crime by the police, the second half follows the prosecution of the crime in court.

Series Plot: In the criminal justice system, sexually-based offenses are considered especially heinous. In New York City, the dedicated detectives who investigate these vicious felonies are members of an elite squad known as the Special Victims Unit. These are their stories.
Episode plot: Detective "Fin" Tutuola is torn between his family and "the system" when his son Ken Randall is roughed up and arrested for digging in a vacant lot late at night. Detectives Stabler and Benson question Randall who claims he was drawn to the site after overhearing a stranger's murder confession while out with his troubled cousin Darius Parker. The story is weak, prompting suspicion and a deeper investigation that leads to an unsolved double homicide - and the realization Randall and Parker have more in common than Tutuola even suspected. Lisa Gay Hamilton guest stars as Tutuola's ex-wife Teresa Randall.
