Il professor Philip Brainard è sempre così assorto nei pensieri dei suoi studi da sembrare svagato e assente. Sara fissa per la terza volta il giorno del matrimonio e questa sembra la volta buona. Philip è già vestito e pronto, quando accade che dagli attrezzi in laboratorio comincia a concretizzarsi una sostanza gommosa che, applicata su qualunque oggetto, lo fa volare in aria a velocità sostenuta.
