Un'avaria provoca la distruzione dell'astronave "Odissea", ma nove membri dell'equipaggio riescono a salire a bordo di uno shuttle ed atterrano su un vicino pianeta sconosciuto. Gli uomini si accorgono che il pianeta è in tutto simile alla Terra - stessa atmosfera e stessa vegetazione -, ma ad una Terra ferma all'età preistorica. Mostruose creature, infatti, fanno ben presto capolino dalle acque dei laghi o dagli anfratti rocciosi ed accolgono gli ospiti con intenzioni tutt'altro che amichevoli.
