Plot

In 2021, an 11-year-old boy named Mattia Piccoli was named Standard-bearer of the Republic

by President Sergio Mattarella for "the love and care with which he daily follows his

father's illness." This film tells his story and that of his father, Paolo, who, in his

early forties, slowly begins to lose pieces of his memory. But just as the world begins to

fade, he chooses to stay close to what truly matters, strengthened also by the love of his

wife Michela. Together with his son, he embarks on a journey of shared daily life, sudden

laughter, and silences that speak.

Trama

Nel 2021 un bambino di 11 anni di nome Mattia Piccoli viene nominato Alfiere della

Repubblica dal Presidente Sergio Mattarella per “l’amore e la cura con cui segue

quotidianamente la malattia del padre”. Questo film racconta la sua storia e quella del

papà Paolo che, poco più che quarantenne, lentamente comincia a perdere pezzi della sua

memoria. Ma proprio mentre il mondo inizia a sfumare, lui sceglie di restare vicino a ciò

che conta davvero, forte anche dell’amore della moglie Michela. Insieme al figlio

intraprende un percorso fatto di quotidianità condivisa, risate improvvise e silenzi che

parlano.
