Guitar virtuoso Steve Vai is a household name amongst admirers of fretboard-melting six-string wizardry the world over – from his early days as a guitarist with Frank Zappa’s band and as Yngwie Malmsteen’s replacement in ex-Rainbow vocalist Graham Bonnet’s band Alcatrazz, to his 2-album stint with ex-Van Halen showman/vocalist Dave Lee Roth, followed by his brief spell as Whitesnake’s chief axe-wielder then his prolific solo career and position on the solo enthusiast’s mecca, the G3 tour, Vai is a towering figure in the world of guitar playing.
In 2009, Vai released the DVD Live in Minneapolis: Where The Wild Things Are through his own record label, Favored Nations, and subsequently followed it up with a CD release of tracks from that DVD simply titled Where The Wild Things Are, which consisted of the songs that had never been released live before. The album, Where The Other Wild Things Are, contains the remainder of the tracks from the DVD that weren’t on the first CD.
