Il film inizia in un teatro, dove un pianista (Moore) comincia a suonare un accompagnamento di pianoforte per il film che viene mostrato nel teatro.
Holmes (Cook) ha appena restaurato un artefatto rubato a tre suore francesi e pi? tardi viene chiamato su un caso dal Dottor Mortimer (Terry-Thomas) per quanto riguarda Sir Henry Baskerville (Kenneth Williams) e un cane leggendario che maledice la tenuta dei Baskerville. Stanco e sfinito da tanti casi, Holmes passa il caso al Dottor Watson, che ? ritratto come un eccentrico gallese.
Al suo arrivo alla stazione, Sir Henry, dottor Mortimer, Watson e Perkins (loro autista) sono fermato da un poliziotto (Spike Milligan), che avverte di un assassino stalking Mori, prima di inviare il gruppo sulla loro strada.
Il Barrymores a Baskerville Hall maltrattare Sir Henry e Watson, nutrirli solo formaggio e acqua e poi gettarli in una piccola camera da letto, caviglia-profonda in acqua. Watson va quindi al villaggio per inviare un messaggio a Holmes (che ? in questo periodo visita sua madre irritabile) e incontra il signor Stapleton di Merripit Hall. Stapleton sta portando un chihuahua che procede a urinare in tasca e la faccia di Watson.
Arrivando a Merripit Hall, Watson incontra l'eccentrica signora Stapleton, che mostra sintomi surreali, suggerendo la possessione demoniaca. A tarda notte, Sir Henry e Watson scoprire il Seldons e l'assassino fuggito, quale Watson riconosce come fratello la signora Barrymore Ethel Seldon (Roy Kinnear), avendo una cena di famiglia. Stranamente, n? degli uomini sembra panico a questo.
