L’anime è prodotto dalla Oriental Light and Magic per la NHK ed è diretto da Naohito Takahashi su character design di Sayuri Ichiishi. La canzone iniziale "Lucky Girl ni Hanataba wo" e quella dei titoli di coda, "Wasurenaide" cantate da Tatsuro Yamashita, accompagnano i 39 episodi di cui è formata la serie. Le storie sono state ricavate da diversi romanzi in cui compaiono Miss Marple e Poirot, con l’aggiunta di un nuovo personaggio che collega i due detective: Mabel West, nipote di Jane Marple, che diventa la giovanissima assistente di Poirot. Mabel ha un ruolo bizzarro per noi, abituati a un Poirot che al massimo si avvale della compagnia della flemmatica Miss Lemon e del caro Capitano Hastings. La serie animata ha dalla sua l’inserimento di moltissimi dialoghi originali della Christie, presi dalle sue opere, benché nei romanzi siano in bocca a personaggi diversi dalla piccola ma intraprendente Mabel. La presenza di Mabel, in realtà, non interferisce nella trama e nella risoluzione dell’enigma. Ci fanno sorridere alcuni stravolgimenti dei nomi che la Christie aveva coniato per i suoi coprotagonisti: tanto per citarne uno, l’ispettore di Scotland Yard Japp diventa Capitano Sharpe.
