DESCRIPTION
The Returned opens in a small mountain community which is rocked to its core when several local people who are presumed dead suddenly re-appear at their homes. Despite having passed away some years earlier, these ghostly characters appear in human form, they have not aged, and they are completely unaware of their own fatality. Determined to reclaim their lives and start over, they slowly come to realize that they are not the only ones to have been brought back from the dead. Their return augers torment for their community when a gruesome murder attempt bears a chilling resemblance to the work of a serial killer from the past. This is a homecoming like no other.

Les Revenants: fantasmi (molto reali) del passato
Camille è tornata. Non ci sarebbe nulla di strano in queste parole, se non fosse per il fatto che Camille è morta quattro anni fa.
Les Revenants, che nel 2013 ha vinto un International Emmy Award come "Miglior serie televisiva drammatica", è ispirata al film del 2004 di Robin Campillo Les Revenants – Quelli che ritornano, che si interrogava riguardo una questione non indifferente: come reintegrare i morti improvvisamente ritornati a camminare tra i vivi?
Morti che però non sono i classici zombie affamati, senza capacità di intendere e di volere, senza sentimenti, senz’anima, ma sembrano piuttosto dei fantasmi in carne e ossa, immobilizzati per sempre con le fattezze del loro ultimo giorno sulla Terra. Morti che ritornano all’improvviso, senza sapere di essere morti, che non vogliono fare del male a nessuno, anzi, vorrebbero semplicemente riprendere le loro vite da dove si sono interrotte, ma chiaramente non possono farlo.
Camille (Yara Pilartz) è tornata, e non ricorda nulla del terribile incidente che l’ha strappata ai suoi genitori e alla sua gemella. Non ricorda che il bus su cui viaggiava insieme ai suoi compagni di classe è finito improvvisamente fuori strada a una curva, spezzando per sempre le vite di decine di famiglie in quella piccola cittadina nel cuore delle Alpi Francesi. Camille non ricorda, ma è preoccupata: ormai è quasi buio, cosa penserà sua madre vedendola rientrare così tardi?
Anche Simon (Pierre Perrier) non ricorda il suo ultimo giorno e non sa di essere morto. Ecco perché non capisce come mai nell’appartamento di Adèle (Clotilde Hesme), la sua fidanzata, abiti un’altra donna. La moglie del Signor Costa (Laetitia de Fombelle), invece, è tornata nella casa dove vive con suo marito. Che però ora ha ottant’anni, molti più di lei. C’è anche il piccolo Victor (Swann Nambotin), che non appena vede l’infermiera Julie (Céline Sallette) decide che sarà con lei che starà d’ora in poi.
Poi ci sono i vivi, che dopo la fatica fatta per accettare la perdita, ora vedono le loro vite nuovamente sconvolte. C’è Claire (Anne Consigny), la mamma di Camille, che non sta a farsi troppe domande, le basta stringere nuovamente la sua bambina tra le braccia. C’è Jérôme (Frédéric Pierrot), il padre di Camille, un concentrato di cinismo e sarcasmo che non può fare altro che sciogliersi davanti allo sguardo della figlia morta e ora di nuovo di fronte a lui. C’è Lena, la gemella di Camille, tormentata dal senso di colpa e terrorizzata dal ritorno della sua metà spirituale.
