“This was the most disturbing movie I've seen in a long time. I started watching it just before going to bed, with no intention to actually stay up and finish it, but once it started, I simply couldn't stop watching. It completely captured my attention, which happens very very rarely as of late, so all my compliments to the director.

This is one of those movies that most people will not appreciate because of it's subject, which is a social taboo. And it's understandable. However, if you are able to appreciate a good story with an upsetting content that is not meant to entertain you, and will probably shake you up, you should give it a chance.”


“Albertina Carri accepts her straight autobiographical Los Rubios (screened here in 2003) with this serious drama of an incestuous romance relationship. Meme and Jeremias are the young kids in a common middle-class household. Their mom Lucia is the principal power in the household, but her obsession on maintaining the niceties of upper center class life has avoided her from watching what is going on under her roof. When the siblings' older cousin and his fiancée appear house for their marriage, it seems unavoidable that the privacy will be difficult to maintain. But similarly it becomes obvious that if Lucia were to discover out about the event, there is disastrous effects. Curiously and abnormally, Carri prevents providing any description or research of Meme and Jeremias' connection, selecting rather to focus on the fallout it brings for the family. Strong on atmosphere and stylishly shot, Geminis builds a palpable sense of tension as it moves toward an inevitably explosive denouement.&r
