This is the beginning of the eighties and everybody is moving to the beat of Pop music, as the brand-new concept of the music video appears on television for the first time. However, in Dublin, Conor, a teenager with a sensitive heart, is trying to deal with a tense family relationship, reconnect with his older brother while dealing with the hostile environment in his new public school. And then one day, he sees her. Tall, with long chestnut hair, a buttery complexion and big, dark eyes; an enigmatically beautiful girl standing in front of his school's gate, indolently observing people passing by. But who is she and how could a boy ever get noticed by such a distant girl? That's easy. He would form a band. Surprisingly, with every lyric Conor writes, the gap narrows and with every song he plays, her heart fills with affection. Synopsis
Dublin, années 80. La pop, le rock, le métal, la new wave passent enboucle sur les lecteurs K7, vibrent dans les écouteurs des walkmans etle rendez-vous hebdomadaire devant« Top of the Pops » estincontournable.
Conor, un lycéen dont les parents sont au bord du divorce, est obligéà contrecœur de rejoindre les bancs de l’école publique dont les règlesd’éducation diffèrent de celles de l’école privée qu’il avaitl’habitude de fréquenter.
Il se retrouve au milieu d’élèves turbulents qui le malmènent et deprofesseurs exigeants qui lui font rapidement comprendre qu’en tant quepetit nouveau, il va devoir filer doux. Afin de s’échapper de cetunivers violent, il n’a qu’un objectif : impressionner la plus joliefille du quartier, la mystérieuse Raphina. Il décide alors de monter ungroupe et de se lancer dans la musique, univers dans lequel il neconnait rien ni personne, à part les vinyles de sa chambre d’adolescent.Afin de la conquérir,il lui propose de jouer dans son futur clip.
