Rae, a native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and entered the adult film industry in 1983, after being discovered by a fledgling Philadelphia talent firm, Lynx Management. The first part of her stage name, pronounced Tayzh-a, came from an Oriental cocktail waitress she worked with before porn. The last name, Rae, was a tribute to Fay Wray, actress in the movie King Kong. (Incidentally, both the first name Taija (tie-yah) and last name Rae are typical Finnish names.) After a test photo shoot in New York City, she quickly made the rounds of the New York adult industry and kept busy in East Coast of the United States erotic films and photo modeling, working with directors such as Henri Pachard, Chuck Vincent, and Dave Darby. Her first films were Dangerous Stuff and Scenes They Wouldn't Let Me Shoot, filmed the same weekend. She became known for her rounded, softer figure, wide hips, and large, natural breasts with big, dark red nipples.
In 1986, she changed her appearance by losing weight and dying her hair blonde, and began doing more work through a West Coast agent. With this, she reached the height of her success, when Hustler magazine referred to her as one of "porn's Big Four" (along with Traci Lords, Ginger Lynn, and Amber Lynn). She was proud of being able to charge $1,000 per day for her roles. She maintained her home in Pennsylvania, sometimes flying out to the West Coast to film scenes, until finally moving to Los Angeles, California in 1988.

My, won't it be nice when the "Miami Vice" mania subsides? 69th Street Vice is a very uninspired cop show parody starring Sharon Kane and Taija Rae as vice cops Gagme and Layme (get it?), who pose as hookers in order to clean up the streets. Any connection to "Miami" is purely accidental, as is any arousal from the pedestrian sex scenes offered here.
Even though Kane and Rae are the nominal stars of the film, they're only featured in two vignettes each. The remainder of the film dwells on two extended Obligatory Lesbian Scenes between hookers and sex clinic workers, an interracial encounter with a white and black prostitute and their black pimp, and the girls' captain on his own assignment at the aforesaid clinic. There is nothing new or different here.

High budget and low eroticism are the order of the day in this lacklustre "comedy" effort from Chuck "Roommates" Vincent. Interesting only really for its curiosity value because the lead (non-sex) actress is Beth Broderick AKA Aunt Zelda in Sabrina. Personally I was interested in this film because it was Amber Lynn's screen debut; She does indeed look ravishing when she bends over receiving oral sex, displaying one of the most perfect arses ever - but the scene is criminally short, consisting almost entirely of cunnilingus. This movie is a strange one - with its big budget and overly long dialogues, it feels like one of those interminable 80s straight-to-video soft core farces - and in that context the hard core "inserts" almost ruin the feel of the movie.

The movie starts with Nikki Charm writing her parents a letter, and we hear her voiceover dripping with slapback echo about how well she’s doing in school and how she’s meeting so many new people. Driller is a very unique adult film, and although it's far from hot it's also one that I can't help but highly recommend that anybody with the least bit of interest check out. I suppose I should admit that I'm one of the few people who's never seen Michael Jackson's Thriller despite growing up when it was huge. Even without seeing the original, Driller stands out as a great parody. Taija Rae is great in the lead role, and does a nice job through three very short scenes. The thing that makes Driller worth checking out, however, is the artistic style and sheer ambition of the project. Although Driller is over twenty five years old now, it still shows more ambition than a heck of a lot of big budget releases made today. There's a little story, tons of style, and even multiple dance numbers that are great takes on the original. I can't say that Driller ever gave me much for wood, but it did put a smile on my face from start to finish. I think there will be plenty of enjoyment for couples who like watching horror movies, especially some of the older style, with the sex being light and tasteful enough to get the mood going well. Driller is far from your typical porn, and I can't help but recommend that people check it out due to the care and effort that went into it.
