Serija "Kralj Petar I" rađena je prema motivima romana "Čarape kralja Petra" Milovana Vitezovića, koji je i jedan od scenarista, uz Vladimira Ćosića i Petra Ristovskog.

Lik kralja Petra tumači Lazar Ristovski, koji je ujedno i producent serije. Serija prati dešavanja u Srbiji od dolaska kralja Petra I na srpski presto 1903. godine, pa sve do 1916. i dolaska srpske vojske na Krf nakon albanske golgote.

Tokom deset epizoda, saznaćemo pod kojim okolnostima je vladao kralj Petar I i na kakve je kompromise morao da pristaje zarad očuvanja države i obraza; koja su previranja u zemlji i svetu uticala na početak Prvog svetskog rata i kakva je uloga Srbije bila u svemu tome.
