Группа выступила с Weezer и MGMT.
Первый сингл группы, "Sail," находился на 30м месте чарта the U.S. Billboard Alternative Songs в чарт неделе 10 Февраля 2011. Группа выпустила свой дебютный альбом Megalithic Symphony в цифровом виде 15 Марта, с CD 29 Марта на Red Bull Records. Альбом содержит 15 композиций с бонус-треками "Swinging from the Castles" и "Shoestrings" с ITunes и Amazon, соответственно.
Название AWOLNATION происходит от клички Арона Бруно в высшей школе. В интервью с Кристин Хоустер (Kristin Houser) с LA Music Blog, он заявил что он "would leave without saying goodbye because it was just easier, so that's where the name Awol came from." (уйдет не попрощавшись, потому что так проще, вот откуда пришло имя Awol).
